Rob Kuster
Born in the Netherlands in 1963, he graduated in Chinese Studies at Leiden University in 1989 and studied Chinese language and Chinese linguistics at Nankai University in 1986. After working in IT and translation management in the 1990s, he commenced teaching Chinese as a senior lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences at Zuyd, Maastricht. The use of multimedia, blended learning and theintegration of new technologies in the field of Chinese language education helped to move beyond more traditional teaching methods andhas opened doors to new areas of expertise. He has been deeply involved in entrepreneurial education, establishing international collaborations and exchanges with partners in China and most recently in the establishment and realization of the Confucius Institute in Maastricht, which he led as Dutch director in 2017. Living in the beautiful Zuid-Limburg landscape, he is also a passionate musician, film maker and photographer. Currently he is an independent entrepreneur specializing in training, consulting and media services.
