Letizia Vallini holds a master’s degree in Italian as a Second Languagefrom the University of Bologna (Italy) and a master’s degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages from Nankai University. From 2015 to 2017, she worked as a translator and project manager at Nankai University’s Office for International Exchanges. In 2017, she started working as a foreign teacher in the Italian Department of Nankai University’s College of Foreign Languages.
Letizia Vallini attaches great importance to spreading the voice of China. The first book she translated from Chinese to Italian, Why does Socialism with Chinese Characteristics work?, was published in Italy by MarxXXI Magazine in October 2019. In 2020, she participated in the translation of Acartoon guide to COVID-19 prevention and controlpromoted by the Information Office of Tianjin Municipal People’s Government to contribute to the anti-epidemic cooperation between China and Italy. In 2021, she co-translated the first season of the 4K micro-documentary Chang’ an meets Rome. Letizia Vallini also translated into Italian selected excerpts from Cao Yu’s play Thunderstorm, promoting Chinese culture in Italy while narrating China’s storyfrom a global perspective. Letizia Vallini was given an Honorable Mention in the 2020 Tianjin Haihe River Friendship Award.
