CCLC held “Chinese Speech Contest”successfully

(Translator: Xue Bing) On Dec.18th, CCLC of Nankai University organized “Chinese Speech Contest”for foreign students to practice their oral Chinese. About 60 foreign students from over ten different countries took part in this activity. The foreign students showed their love to Chinese language and Chinese culture with their passionate and excellent performance. 

A great diversity of performing forms were presented in the contest, such as speech, recitation, opusculum, crosstalk, and allegro. The foreign contestants expressed their preference to Chinese culture and lifestyle. They would like to learn Chinese well so that they could be engaged in transmitting Chinese culture to their own country.

It is reported that “Chinese Speech Contest” has been held successfully for several years, which becomes an essential platform for foreign students to practice Chinese. Though there still exists some “accent” problem in their oral speech, they all have good interpretation and deep understanding to the works. “Chinese Speech Contest” plays an active part to help foreign students to adapt to Chinese way of life and learn Chinese culture as well.
