(Correspondents: Wu Xinyi and Hu Yingxin / Photo: Huang Yiqian) On the afternoon of Nov. 18th, CCLC Overseas Students Song Contest was held in Yifu Hall of the Oriental Art Center in NKU Balitai Campus. It attracted wide attention of overseas students. There were 22 groups that took part in the preliminary contest and 10 of them have qualified for the final.
In the final, the contest begun with a song called “Silence (Mo in Chinese)” by Ha Liuna, from Mongolia. Audiences were all intoxicated with the duet of piano and guitar.
I Believe by a Korean group consisting of Lee Gyuho and Lee Sang Hyun drove the atmosphere to the climax. Songs such as archaistic Poetry for Red Bean, energetic Departure, moving Where is Time were all full of overseas students’ efforts and their affection for Chinese culture. In the end, Nana from Kazakhstan took the crown.
In the interval of contest, Wei Huiling, the head of NKU student chorus, appeared surprisingly. A sonorous song called Qiu Shui Tian Chang by Wei Huiling won thunderous applause of the audience.
During the contest, although overseas students had different mother tongues and cultural backgrounds, they all expressed songs’ implication in their own way, which has showed their passion for learning Chinese and the love and pursuit of Chinese culture.
